As Christians across the globe prepare to celebrate Easter, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and security of all residents during the festive period.
The State Commandant, Dr. Igbalawole Sotiyo, disclosed that a total of 1,600 personnel have been strategically deployed across the state to ensure a hitch-free celebration. The deployment covers key locations such as markets, worship centres, recreational spots, motor parks, and other public spaces.
“This deployment is a proactive measure to forestall any potential security breach and to guarantee that residents of Osun State enjoy a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration without fear or disruption,” Commandant Sotiyo stated.
He added that the Command is working in synergy with other security agencies to maintain law and order, while urging members of the public to be vigilant and cooperate with security operatives.
“All Area Commanders and Divisional Officers have been directed to remain on high alert and ensure effective surveillance and prompt response to any security issue before, during, and after the celebration,” he said.
Commandant Sotiyo appealed to the general public to report any suspicious movement or activity to the nearest NSCDC office or other relevant security agencies, assuring that such information will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
“Security is a collective responsibility. With the cooperation of the public, we can ensure a safe and secure environment for all to celebrate in peace,” he emphasized.
The Commandant also urged Christian faithful to uphold the virtues and teachings embedded in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ — love, humility, sacrifice, and peace — as they commemorate the season.
He further advised those travelling during the period to avoid over-speeding and night journeys, stressing the need for caution on the roads.
While wishing all Christian faithful and residents of the state a happy and peaceful Easter, Commandant Sotiyo reaffirmed NSCDC’s unwavering dedication to the protection of lives and property across Osun State.
