The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Bauchi State Command successfully concluded a three-day sensitization and training workshop addressing Job Racketeering, Financial Fraud, and Their Legal Implications on National Security. Held from December 3 to 5, 2024, at the State Command Headquarters, the workshop brought together key officers, including Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, and Heads of Departments, under the coordination of the Anti-Fraud Unit.

Commandant Oloyede Nelson Oyerinde, in his opening remarks, emphasized the importance of the training, aligning with directives from NSCDC Commandant General Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi. He urged attendees to fully engage with the sessions and warned personnel against unethical practices, highlighting severe penalties for violations.

Training Highlights

The workshop featured expert resource persons from ICPC, EFCC, and the Ministry of Justice:

  1. Day One: PS Sanusi Abubakar of ICPC lectured on Combating Corruption in MDAs, exploring causes, forms, and effects of corruption, as well as legal penalties and the role of security agencies in fighting corruption.
  2. Day Two: ACE II Salihu Abubakar Bala of EFCC discussed Financial Fraud in Security Formations, covering types of financial crimes, consequences, and real-life cases of fraudulent activities in government agencies.
  3. Day Three: Barr. Usman Mohammad Umar from the Bauchi State Ministry of Justice addressed the Legal Implications of Job Racketeering and Financial Fraud, highlighting potential consequences, including dismissal from service.

Commandant Oyerinde expressed gratitude to the Commandant General for mandating the initiative, commended the Anti-Fraud Unit for coordinating the event, and encouraged officers to implement the knowledge gained in their various formations. He also stressed the importance of disseminating the lessons learned to enhance operational integrity across the state.

The workshop underscored the NSCDC’s commitment to tackling corruption and upholding professionalism within its ranks, contributing to national security and public trust.
