Anchor Text: 2 Thessalonians 3:1–2
As long as we live in this world, we will encounter unreasonable and wicked people. These are individuals who, regardless of who you are or what you have done, desire no good for you. Even when you are in a lowly condition, some people still hate you without any justifiable reason. While you are passing through pain, sorrow, disappointment, and agony, and shedding both inward and outward tears, they desire that your afflictions consume you. Even when you are struggling under the weight of life’s burdens, they wish your existence would come to an end—that you would no longer be seen or heard. Such is the wickedness that exists in the hearts of some people. However, God is our Deliverer, and He is able to rescue His children from every evil plot and every satanic agenda. The Apostle Paul understood this reality and therefore requested the prayers of the saints. 2 Thessalonians 3:1–2, “Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you, and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith.” Notice that Paul did not assume that because he was an apostle he would never face opposition. Instead, he asked the Church to pray for deliverance from unreasonable and wicked men, recognizing that not everyone possesses genuine faith.
A vivid example of unreasonable wickedness is found in the account of Haman and Mordecai. Esther 3:1, “After these things King Ahasuerus promoted Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him and set his seat above all the princes who were with him.” Haman was not an ordinary man. He was highly promoted by King Ahasuerus and honoured above all the princes in the kingdom. Mordecai, on the other hand, was a Jewish exile who served faithfully at the king’s gate. Humanly speaking, Mordecai posed no threat to Haman’s position or influence.
Yet, because Mordecai refused to bow before him in violation of his devotion to God, Haman became consumed with hatred. His anger was so irrational that he was not satisfied with killing Mordecai alone; he sought to destroy the entire Jewish nation.
This was unreasonable and wicked hatred. It demonstrates how the enemy can use people to launch attacks that far exceed any perceived offence.
Many believers experience similar situations today. Some people fight them without cause, oppose their progress, rejoice at their afflictions, and secretly desire their downfall. But every satanic agenda fashioned against God’s children shall fail.
Today, every evil conspiracy orchestrated against your life in the kingdom of darkness is destroyed in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Just as Haman did not triumph over Mordecai, every plan of the enemy against your destiny shall fail.
The Scriptures declare: Isaiah 8:10, “Take counsel together, but it will come to nothing; speak the word, but it will not stand, for God is with us.” No matter how many people gather together against you, their counsel cannot stand when God is with you. Job 5:12, “He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot carry out their plans.”
God specializes in frustrating the devices of wicked people. He renders their schemes powerless and prevents them from accomplishing their evil intentions. When Mordecai learned of Haman’s wicked plot against the Jews living in exile throughout the Persian Empire, he immediately informed Queen Esther. Rather than surrendering to fear, Esther called for a season of fasting and prayer. An altar of prayer was raised, and God intervened mightily. The very gallows Haman had prepared for Mordecai became the instrument of his own destruction.
This teaches us an important lesson: every demonic conspiracy must be confronted on the altar of prayer. Prayer invites God’s intervention into impossible situations.
As you pray today, may God hear your pray. Everyone who desires your downfall shall be disappointed. Every evil plot against your life, family, ministry, career, business, and destiny shall be overturned by the power of God. Those who dig a pit for you shall fall into it themselves, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
Prayer Points
- Father, I thank You because You are my Redeemer and my Saviour. You are the Rock upon which I stand and the everlasting Pillar upon whom I lean. Thank You for being my refuge and my strong tower in every season of life.
- O Lord, let Your Word run swiftly in my life. Let every promise You have spoken concerning me be fulfilled speedily. Let Your counsel alone stand over my life and my household in the name of Jesus Christ.
- Father, let Your Word be glorified in my life. Let my life become a testimony of Your power, faithfulness, goodness, and glory in the name of Jesus Christ.
- O Lord, from today until eternity, deliver me from unreasonable and wicked men. Let no evil person exercise authority over my life. Let the rod of the wicked never rest upon my portion in the name of Jesus Christ.
- Father, just as You turned the evil counsel of Haman against Mordecai and the Jewish people into foolishness, turn every evil counsel against my destiny into foolishness. Frustrate every satanic enterprise planned against me and my household in the name of Jesus Christ.
- Lord, let every gallows that my adversaries have prepared for me become their own portion. Let every trap they have secretly set for me catch them instead, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
- Psalm 35:8, “Let destruction come upon him unexpectedly, And let his net that he has hidden catch himself; Into that very destruction let him fall.”
- Father, thank You for hearing and answering my prayers. I receive my deliverance, my victory, and my testimony. To You alone be all the glory, honour, and praise forever, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
