Genesis 39:1-5, “1And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmaelites, which had brought him down thither. 2And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. 3And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand. 4And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand. 5And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.”

Joseph was sold into slavery by his envious siblings. Genesis 37:4-11, “ 4And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.  5And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more. 6And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed: 7For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf. 8And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words. 9And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me. 10And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth? 11And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.”

They thought that he had a better chance to reign over them, coupled with the fact that he was the choice of their father, not knowing that everyone is born with a unique grace and identity to shine forth in his time. Their ignorance beclouded their right thinking, which advanced to envious thoughts, which they eventually acted upon. Any plan against you as a result of envy shall be aborted in the name of Jesus Christ. On the part of Joseph, he revealed his dream to the unknown enemies. He never thought his brethren can harm him as a result of his dream. God will guide your heart to know whom to reveal your dreams to in the name of Jesus Christ.

As event unfolds in his life, it seems his dream will be a mere dream that will never be fulfilled. From one problem to another complicated problem. But he never compromised. He believed in God. When he had opportunity to sleep with his master’s wife, he did not. Genesis 39:7-9, “ 7And it came to pass after these things, that his master’s wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me. 8But he refused, and said unto his master’s wife, Behold, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand; 9There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back anything from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” When she lured him to lie with her, he said how can I do this great wickedness and sin against God. It shows a young man with integrity.

There is a time to resist temptation; there is a time to flee from it. If you dare to resist when you ought to flee, you will find yourself doing what you do not want to do. Joseph had been resisting her advances. But on that day he needed to flee lest he becomes a victim of what he has been resisting. Genesis 39:12, “And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.“

This singular act cost him another setback, which took him to prison for an offence he did not commit. Your righteousness will make you to suffer in the hands of ungodly people. But God will never leave nor forsake you. That is His promise to all His faithful children. In all his ordeals, he did not give up. His good countenance never changed to his fellow prisoners even in the prison. God noticed his faithfulness even when he has a reason to compromise which he did not do. He was highly favoured in the sight of the warder to the extent that everything was committed into his hands in the prison. His faithfulness paved way for him, from prison to become a prime minister in a foreign land where he was sold to as a slave and also condemned to be a prisoner. That was awesome grace. God broke all protocols for him to be enthroned. That will be your story in the name of Jesus Christ. That crisis will end as praise item in the name of Jesus Christ. Just because of you, protocols will be broken; rules will be suspended to favour you in the name of Jesus Christ.

No matter your story today, there is a future for you, if you will not give up, if you will not compromise, if you will not condemn yourself. No matter how life has been treating you, no matter the heartache you have suffered, no matter the rejection, no matter the trauma you have been subjected to in life, no matter what you have been labeled for! That is not your identity in Christ Jesus. He is the only one that knows your true identity and that identity in Christ will manifest very soon. Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”

He knew you and He had ordained you for a particular purpose on earth and you will fulfill that purpose in the name of Jesus Christ. No one can stop you except you.

That is why you must follow the right path, abide in Christ, never compromise your faith, and never venture into any ungodly thing that Satan will use to nail you down. Remember that you have an adversary, who is looking for a way to deny you your glorious future. He will put in all his strengths and might to deny you that glorious destiny. But you must not create an opening for him to pull you down. Any attempt from any quarter to pull you down is hereby aborted in the name of Jesus Christ.

As you are passing through that difficult time, remember Joseph. If his dream eventually came to fulfillment, nothing can stop your own dream from being fulfilled. Your dreams will come to pass in the name of Jesus Christ.
