Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

Everyone is born with glory, irrespective of who you are or where you come from. Each person carries a divine deposit — a potential that can make them shine like a star in their generation. The Scripture says in Jeremiah 1:5 that before we were formed in our mother’s womb, God already knew us and ordained us for a specific purpose.

You are not an accident. You are a divine project. God’s thought towards you is to give you hope and a glorious future. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Glory is not merely an external beauty or fame; it is a divine endowment — a reflection of God’s splendor and favor upon one’s life. True glory is a spiritual and moral transformation that enables a person to reflect the image of God on earth.

Every life has a purpose. No matter your present circumstance, there is a glory ahead. You were created to fulfill a divine assignment. Once you align your life with God, your Maker, through Jesus Christ, your purpose becomes clear, and in Him, you find the assurance and grace to fulfill it.

THE STORY OF JOSEPH: A JOURNEY TO GLORY

Joseph’s life is one of the greatest biblical examples of divine glory that lies ahead of every believer who trusts God through difficult seasons. He was ordained from his mother’s womb to be great, but his journey to that glory was filled with trials, betrayals, and disappointments. Yet, in every stage, God was preparing him for a throne.

Let us look at the stages of Joseph’s journey and the lessons we can learn.

His Divine Dream — Discovery of Purpose

Genesis 37:5-7 “Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more. So he said to them, ‘Please hear this dream which I have dreamed: There we were, binding sheaves in the field. Then behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and indeed your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf.’”

Joseph discovered his destiny early through divine revelation. His dreams were not ordinary; they were glimpses of the glory ahead. But instead of being celebrated, his brothers envied and hated him. Sometimes, the first reaction to your divine dream will be opposition. But do not be discouraged — what God has revealed, He will fulfill.

Betrayal by His Brothers — The Beginning of the Process

Genesis 37:18-20, “Now when they saw him afar off, even before he came near them, they conspired against him to kill him. Then they said to one another, ‘Look, this dreamer is coming! Come therefore, let us now kill him and cast him into some pit; and we shall say, “Some wild beast has devoured him.” We shall see what will become of his dreams!’” Joseph’s journey to glory began with betrayal. His own brothers sold him into slavery. Many times, betrayal is the price of greatness. The people you expect to lift you may be the ones that push you down. But remember: man’s rejection is often God’s redirection.

Journey into Slavery — God’s Plan Still at Work

Genesis 39:1-2, “Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt. And Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had taken him down there. The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.”

Even as a slave, God’s presence made Joseph prosper. This shows that true success does not depend on location or position but on the presence of God. Though he was a slave, he carried glory within him. When God is with you, no circumstance can erase your destiny.

Betrayal by Potiphar’s Wife — Test of Integrity

Genesis 39:7-9, “And it came to pass after these things that his master’s wife cast longing eyes on Joseph, and she said, ‘Lie with me.’ But he refused and said to his master’s wife, ‘Look, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my hand. There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?’”

Joseph’s refusal to sin cost him his comfort but preserved his destiny. Sometimes, standing for righteousness may look like a loss, but it is a divine investment. Glory cannot manifest where sin rules. Joseph chose purity over pleasure, and though it landed him in prison, it was the path to promotion.

From Favour to Prison — Still in God’s Plan

Genesis 39:20-21, “Then Joseph’s master took him and put him into the prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were confined. And he was there in the prison. But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.” Even in prison, the presence of God never left him. What others called punishment became Joseph’s preparation ground. God’s favor can locate you even in dark seasons. Delay is not denial; it is divine development.

Joseph’s Service in Prison — Commitment in Captivity

Genesis 40:5-8, “Then the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were confined in the prison, had a dream, both of them, each man’s dream in one night and each man’s dream with its own interpretation. And Joseph came in to them in the morning and looked at them, and saw that they were sad. So he asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with him in the custody of his lord’s house, saying, ‘Why do you look so sad today?’ And they said to him, ‘We each have had a dream, and there is no interpreter of it.’ So Joseph said to them, ‘Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell them to me, please.’”

Joseph remained faithful and compassionate despite his circumstances. He used his gift even in confinement. The place you are today may not look like your destiny, but it may be the platform where your gift will announce you. Keep serving. Keep shining.

Forgotten, Yet Not Forsaken

Genesis 40:23, “Yet the chief butler did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.” There are seasons when men may forget you, but God never does. Heaven’s timing is perfect. When the right time came, God stirred Pharaoh’s dream and made Joseph’s gift relevant at the palace.

Remembered and Elevated — The Manifestation of Glory

Genesis 41:39-41, “Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘Inasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you.’ And Pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.’”

In one day, Joseph moved from the prison to the palace. The glory that had been hidden for years suddenly manifested. When your time comes, no human power can stop your rising. God’s glory will always speak at the appointed time.

The story of Joseph reminds us that there is glory ahead for everyone who walks with God faithfully. The path to glory may pass through betrayal, slavery, or prison, but none of these can cancel God’s plan.

You may be in your “pit” or “prison” right now, but do not give up — your palace season is coming. Stay faithful, stay pure, and stay in God’s presence. For as Romans 8:28 says: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Prayer:

  1. Thank You, Lord, because we know that our glory will shine, and our lives will reflect Your majesty. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.

  4. We receive the grace to align with Your will and to walk in Your purpose. Every prison, pit, or limitation standing between us and our glory — let it be turned into a stepping stone to greatness.
  5. Father, lift us from obscurity to visibility. Cause our gifts to speak in high places. Let every forgotten promise be remembered. May our destiny helpers locate us.
  6. Thank You, Lord, for answered prayers
