Beloved, God is deeply interested in families being blessed, thriving, and fulfilling His divine mandate. From the beginning, God established the family as the foundation of society. In Genesis 1:28, the Bible declares: “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” This blessing was pronounced on the first family, showing clearly that the family is central to God’s plan for fruitfulness, multiplication, dominion, and continuity of His purpose on earth.
But as God is interested in blessing families, Satan is equally interested in bringing all manner of evil, confusion, and destruction into homes. The enemy knows that once he can destabilize homes, it will be much easier for him to destabilize nations. Everyone is a product of a home. A godly home produces a godly society, while an ungodly home produces an ungodly society.
The Enemy’s Attack on the Home
Satan has not changed his strategy. He attacked the first family in Eden, and he is still attacking families today. His mission has always been as described in John 10:10:
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
Every crisis in homes—whether quarrels, infidelity, rebellion, hatred, or disunity—has a spirit behind it. The enemy uses anger, pride, selfishness, and bitterness to create cracks in families so that love will fade and God’s purpose will be hindered.
I often wonder: When did husbands and wives cease to love each other? Where is the initial attraction that brought them together? Has it completely faded away? When love begins to die in a home, it is evidence that an unfriendly atmosphere is being stirred by the powers of darkness. But that spirit shall be dealt with today in Jesus’ name.
Why the Devil Fights Homes
- To frustrate God’s divine purpose – If families do not stand, the command of Genesis 1:28 cannot be fully realized.
- To weaken society – A broken home produces broken children, and broken children build a broken nation.
- To stop generational blessings – God’s blessings flow through families, but Satan introduces curses, hatred, and division to cut off godly heritage.
- To contaminate Christian testimony – Even Christian homes are under siege today. When Christian marriages collapse, the testimony of Christ is weakened before the world.
This is why 1 Corinthians 10:12 warns us:
“Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.”
No family should assume it is immune to Satan’s attack. Even the homes we thought would stand the test of time are now collapsing. This is why we must be intentional, prayerful, and watchful over our homes.
Raising an Altar of Prayer for Our Homes
The solution to demonic invasion in homes is prayer. The Bible says in Psalm 127:1:
“Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”
We must return to God, the foundation of all homes, and raise an altar of prayer. Prayer repairs broken foundations, restores love, revives unity, and re-establishes God’s authority over our homes.
When we call on Him in sincerity, mercy will speak expressly. God’s mercy can heal every wound, restore every broken marriage, deliver every rebellious child, and silence every demonic voice rising against families.
Practical Steps to Protect Our Homes
- Return to God as the foundation – Every home must be Christ-centered.
- Consistent family altar – Prayer and the Word of God must be established daily in the home.
- Forgiveness and Love – Ephesians 4:32 says: “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Without forgiveness, love cannot thrive
- Resist the devil – James 4:7 says: “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Families must actively resist every satanic influence through prayer and obedience to God’s Word.
Beloved, the family is the first institution God created, and He has not changed His mind about blessing it. Satan knows this, which is why he is unleashing heavy attacks against homes today. But we have assurance in Romans 8:37: “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
As we raise an altar of prayer today, may God deliver our homes from every demonic attack, restore every broken foundation, and cause His peace and love to reign in our families.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!
