In a momentous occasion, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu recently hosted a remarkable young woman, 2nd Lt. Oluchukwu Owowoh, the first female Nigerian graduate of the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom. Owowoh, at just 24 years old, stood tall among 134 other Officer Cadets during the Sovereign’s Parade in London, a culmination of 44 weeks of arduous training as part of Commissioning Course 232.

Mrs. Tinubu commended Owowoh for her exceptional performance and unwavering resilience throughout her training, hailing her as a beacon of inspiration for Nigerian youths. The First Lady’s words of praise were profound, ‘Your determination and resilience are quite remarkable, and you are an inspiration to the youth of this country. As a woman who has made a significant mark in a male-dominated field, I salute you.’

Recognizing Owowoh’s achievement as just the beginning of a promising journey, Mrs. Tinubu urged her to remain focused and positive, assuring her that she is now a reference point for all Nigerian youths.

The event was graced by several dignitaries, including the wife of the Vice President, the wife of the Speaker, wives of ministers, wives of Service Chiefs, and members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, who gave a standing ovation to 2nd Lt. Owowoh.

Maj. Gen. OJ Ochai, Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, lauded Owowoh’s exceptional performance, noting that she was the best among 200 selected cadets from the NDA, excelling in academics, military subjects, and physical fitness. Upon her return to Nigeria, Owowoh has been assigned to the Nigerian Military Intelligence Unit, where she is set to continue her remarkable journey of service and excellence.
