To be in charge means to be in absolute control, authority over a particular task, situation, group, or event of life. When someone is in charge, they are the one who makes decisions, gives directions, and ensures that everything runs smoothly. It implies leadership and accountability.

By default, man is created to be in charge.” It reflects the idea that humans are naturally endowed with authority, responsibility, and leadership. Humans are seen as stewards of the earth, given dominion over creation Genesis 1:26, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” This implies that they are designed to lead, manage, and care for the world. In a broader sense, it suggests that humans are inherently equipped with the ability to take control, make decisions, and lead in various aspects of life—whether in personal, social, or professional settings. It conveys a sense of purpose and responsibility. Genesis 1:28, “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”

Whatever stands against this divine mandate from God is a great adversary of man which we must deal with before they prevail and hinder man from fulfilling his divine mandate on earth. Any force, temptation, obstacle, or opposition that hinders humanity from fulfilling its God-given purpose such as to lead, govern, and steward creation represents a significant challenge or enemy that must be confronted. This could include inner struggles like fear, doubt, or pride, as well as external forces such as injustice, immorality, or oppressive systems.

To be in charge implies the importance of vigilance, faith, and action in overcoming these adversaries to stay aligned with divine purpose. It is a call to rise above obstacles and assert the authority that has been divinely bestowed upon mankind.

In Christianity, the forces that wage war against our divine mandate in God are often understood as spiritual, moral, and worldly challenges that seek to hinder believers from fulfilling their God-given purpose. Some of these forces include:

  1. Satan and Demonic Forces: The Bible speaks of Satan as the ultimate adversary of God’s people, seeking to steal, kill, and destroy John 10:10, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Demonic forces, referred to as “principalities, powers, rulers of darkness” Ephesians 6:12, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” They aim to derail believers from their divine purpose.
  2. Sin: Sin is a fundamental barrier between humans and their relationship with God. It disrupts divine fellowship and prevents believers from living out their mandate to be holy and walk in God’s will Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
  3. The Flesh: The Bible talks about the flesh as the sinful nature that desires things contrary to the Spirit of God Galatians 5:17, “ For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.” It represents our inner inclination to do what is wrong, indulging in desires that oppose God’s commands.
  4. The World: The “world” in a biblical sense refers to the systems, values, and behaviors that are in opposition to God’s kingdom 1 John 2:15-17, “15Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.” This includes materialism, pride, and worldly influences that distract people from their divine calling.
  5. Temptation: Temptation is a tool used by the enemy to entice believers to deviate from God’s path. It can come in various forms—whether through wealth, power, or pleasure James 1:14-15, “14But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” Adam and Eve were tempted and fell to the trap of Satan, thereby they lost that divine authority God has bestowed on them.
  6. Fear and Doubt: Fear and doubt can undermine faith and prevent believers from stepping into their God-given authority. The Bible repeatedly tells Christians not to fear because fear weakens faith 2 Timothy 1:7, “ For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Matthew 14:31, “And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?”
  7. Disobedience: When people turn away from God’s commands and live according to their own ways, they forfeit the blessings and protection that come from obedience. Disobedience prevents fulfillment of God’s mandate Deuteronomy 28:15-20, “15But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee: 16Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field. 17Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store. 18Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. 19Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out. 20The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.”
  8. Pride: Pride is often seen as one of the most dangerous spiritual forces. It leads individuals to rely on their own strength rather than depending on God, distancing them from His will Proverbs 16:18, “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” James 4:6, “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

To counter these forces, Christians are encouraged to put on the “full armour of God” (Ephesians 6:10-18), which includes faith, righteousness, salvation, and the Word of God as spiritual defenses. Prayer, reliance on the Holy Spirit, and a commitment to living according to God’s will are also keys to overcoming these adversaries.

Prayer:

  1. Oh Lord, we thank You for unrestricted access we have to the mercy seat to present our supplications before Your throne. Hebrew 4:16, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
  2. Oh Lord, we thank You for the covenant of mercy, we thank You for hearing us, we thank You for answers to our prayers.

  5. Satan and his hosts, the accusers of my life, I rebuke now in the name of Jesus Christ. I overcome by the Blood of the Lamb. Zechariah 3:1-4, “1And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. 2And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire? 3Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. 4And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.”
  6. As I come before Your throne, remove filthy garment from me, purify me with Your fire, cloth me with the garment of righteousness in the name of Jesus Christ.
  7. Holy Ghost fire, destroy the manifestations of flesh in me. Do not allow flesh to have dominion over me and my household again in the name of Jesus Christ.
  8. By the fire of Holy Ghost burning in me, I take charge of every aspect of my life. I take charge both spiritually and physically in the name of Jesus Christ.
  9. By the authority of His name, I take charge of my territory, my space, and my environment. Satan and his hosts, take your hands off from the affairs of my life and household in the name of Jesus Christ.
  10. I shut the door of my life and my household and my territory against evil doers, seducers, manipulators, deceivers, and anyone that want to lure me out of Your will for my life in the name of Jesus Christ.
  11.  I shut the door of my life and my household against strange men and strange women. They have no influence over my life and territory in the name of Jesus Christ.
  12. I rebuke you spirit of fear and anxiety. I cast you out now. I receive spirit of courage and strong heart in the Lord in Jesus’ name. Joshua 1:9, “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

Joshua 1:8, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”
  15.  Isaiah 41:18, “I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.” Oh Lord, heal my land of barrenness; take away dryness from my household in the name of Jesus Christ.
  16.  Oh Lord, heal my land of every plague, and curse. By the flames of fire, destroy demonic strongholds ruling over my affairs. I receive victory now in the name of Jesus Christ.

I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” Oh Lord, in this month of taking charge, do a new thing in my life and household in the name of Jesus Christ.
  19. Thank God for answered prayers.
