Proverbs 23:7, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.”

Mentality refers to a person’s way of thinking or their mental outlook, including their attitudes, beliefs, and mindsets. It shapes how they perceive and respond to the world around them, influencing their decisions, behaviors, and interactions. Mentality can be shaped by a combination of personal experiences, cultural background, education, and environment.

A Royal Dominion Mentality however, is a mindset rooted in the belief that one is divinely appointed to exercise authority, stewardship, and influence on earth as a representative of God’s kingdom. This mentality emphasizes that believers are not just meant to exist passively but to reign in life, showing God’s character and ruling with justice, love, and wisdom in all areas of influence. This concept is strongly based on biblical teachings about mankind’s God-given authority and purpose on earth.

Here are some key Bible references that illustrate the Royal Dominion Mentality:

  1. Genesis 1:26-28, “Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’”

In this passage, God entrusts mankind with authority to govern and manage creation. This original dominion mandate shows that humans were created to rule responsibly, reflecting God’s character in their governance.

  1. Psalm 8:4-6, “What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You care for him? Yet You have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet.”

This passage emphasizes humanity’s honored place in creation, highlighting that God has given us dominion over all things on earth. This honor carries the responsibility to lead and govern in alignment with God’s principles.

  1. Ephesians 1:18-21, “18The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:” Ephesians 1:18-21 encourages a Royal Dominion Mentality by illuminating believers’ divine calling, inheritance, and power through Christ. Paul prays for spiritual enlightenment so that believers understand the “hope of His calling” and the “riches of His inheritance,” establishing their identity as heirs of God’s kingdom. This royal inheritance empowers them to act with purpose and authority. Furthermore, the same power that raised Christ now works in believers, enabling them to reign over challenges and represent God’s kingdom on earth. United with Christ, who reigns above all powers and dominions, believers are called to live victoriously, exercising dominion in alignment with His authority.
  2. Revelation 1:6, “…and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” Believers are described as “kings and priests” who reign with God. This point to a spiritual royalty that calls for exercising dominion in service to God’s purposes on earth.
  3. Luke 10:19, “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.”   Jesus assures His followers that they have been given authority over evil. This empowerment enables believers to act in faith and with the confidence that they can overcome opposition, reinforcing their dominion mentality.
  4. 1 Peter 2:9, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” Peter emphasizes that believers are a “royal priesthood,” tasked with representing God’s authority, holiness, and love to the world. This royal identity underlines the call to rule with a godly influence.

A Royal Dominion Mentality, then, is a mindset that understands and embraces this biblical position of authority and responsibility, leading with godly purpose and making an impact on the world through the wisdom and authority granted by God.

Prayer:

There are several forces that seek to undermine or corrupt a Royal Dominion Mentality. These influences can weaken a believer’s understanding of their divine authority and purpose, leading to a passive or defeated life.

Below are some of the key things that can corrupt this mentality:

  1. Sin and Fleshly Desires: Sin clouds our judgment, distorts our priorities, and draws us away from the royal calling of righteousness. Romans 6:12-14, “12Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. 13Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. 14For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” We should not allow sin to reign in our mortal bodies. Allowing sinful desires to rule diminishes our authority to act as God’s representatives
  2. Fear and Doubt: Fear of failure, doubt in God’s promises, and insecurity in our identity can keep us from acting boldly in faith. 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us that God has given us “a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” When fear takes hold, it replaces the confidence and courage essential to exercising dominion.
  3. Conformity to the World: The pull to conform to societal values and pressures can easily lead us away from godly principles. Romans 12:2, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” A worldly mindset distracts us from our royal calling, emphasizing temporary pleasures and success over eternal significance.
  4. Lies of the Enemy: Satan’s deceptions often focus on making us doubt our identity, authority, and worth in God’s eyes. John 8:44 calls Satan the “father of lies.” His schemes often involve undermining believers’ sense of dominion and authority, encouraging them to see themselves as powerless or unworthy.
  5. Lack of Knowledge of God’s Word: Hosea 4:6 states, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Without a deep understanding of God’s Word and His promises, believers cannot fully grasp or exercise their authority. Ignorance leads to weakness, as we lack the truth that empowers and reinforces our dominion.
  6. Pride and Self-Sufficiency: A mentality of pride and self-reliance replaces dependency on God. Proverbs 16:18 warns that “Pride goes before destruction.” When we seek power and authority for selfish purposes or think we can succeed without God’s guidance, we fall out of alignment with His will and stray from our royal calling.
  7. Spiritual Laziness: Neglecting prayer, worship, and the study of Scripture leads to spiritual weakness. Hebrews 5:12-14 speaks of the need to grow in spiritual maturity. Without spiritual diligence, believers are easily swayed by negative influences, losing sight of their royal mandate.

Guarding against these corrupting influences requires vigilance, consistent communion with God, and a commitment to growing in spiritual knowledge and maturity. By staying aligned with God’s truth, we can maintain a Royal Dominion Mentality and effectively fulfill our divine calling.
