As the festive season approaches, the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of 1,750 personnel to ensure the safety of lives and property during the Christmas and New Year celebrations. This proactive measure is aimed at maintaining peace and order across the state, ensuring that residents and visitors enjoy a secure and joyous festive period.

Commandant Igbalawole Sotiyo, who heads the Osun NSCDC, revealed that the deployment would include both covert and overt operations. The personnel will focus on securing critical national assets and infrastructure, as well as conducting surveillance in strategic locations such as worship centres, marketplaces, recreational facilities, and other identified flashpoints.

The Commandant has also directed all divisional officers to intensify security efforts in their respective jurisdictions. “We are committed to providing watertight security arrangements, and our officers are under strict instructions to act firmly but courteously while carrying out their duties,” Sotiyo stated.

To strengthen the security framework, Sotiyo emphasized the importance of collaboration with sister agencies, urging a unified approach to safeguarding Osun State. He also issued a stern warning to individuals or groups intending to disrupt public peace, stating that such actions would be met with decisive consequences.

The Commandant called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods to the nearest security agency. He assured the public that the NSCDC is fully prepared to respond swiftly to any threats, ensuring a crime-free celebration for all.

Extending festive wishes, Sotiyo expressed gratitude to the people of Osun State for their continued cooperation with the Corps. “On behalf of all officers and men of the NSCDC Osun State Command, I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year,” he said.

With these measures in place, the NSCDC is reinforcing its commitment to creating a safe environment where the spirit of the season can be fully celebrated. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and proactive, contributing to a collective effort in maintaining the state’s peace and tranquility during the yuletide season.
