John 4:13-15, “13Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinks of this water shall thirst again: 14But whosoever drinks the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. 15The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.”

Let me start on this note, Jesus Christ is the LIVING WATER through whom everyone who believes in Him is redeemed to eternal life, that is to have a life in Christ after death John 7:37-38, “37In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”

Our salvation and redemption from sin and its consequences, which include death and separation from God gives us unrestricted access to the LIVING WATER. The death of Jesus Christ on the Cross at Calvary, His blood that was shed and His resurrection settled our reconciliation process with God. His death is a saving grace for the mankind, to reclaim the lost glory from Satan, the devil, the accuser of mankind. Thus, you must fill your cup from the WELL of SALVATION constantly.

However, your cup within this context is your Spirit, Soul and Body, your personality as individual.

WHY MUST YOU FILL OUR CUP CONSTANTLY?

Everything does not end in salvation. In fact, that is the beginning of our journey to eternal life. Salvation opens us up to the mercy and grace someone can enjoy in Christ Jesus. It is an access key to our reunion with our Maker. After salvation, what next, you must engage in spiritual activities that will secure your eternal life to the end. If we are not watchful enough, we are bound to sweep off by the storm of life thereby making us to lose our salvation again.

Many events of life are contending for our spirit, soul and body. They want to drain us out by all means. They want us to shift focus. They want to dispossess us the joy of salvation. They want us to be irrelevant in the calendar of God again. They want us to be unprofitable servants. They want us unfit to stand before our Maker. They want us to be vessel unto dishonour. They want to deprive us of confidence to come before God.

The following are the reasons you need to refill your cup every moment:

  1. Number one enemy of every Christian is Satan, the devil, the accuser of brethren. 1Peter 5:8, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” Satan does not want your salvation grace to stand. He wants you to lose that cordial relationship with God. He wants you to compromise. He wants you to lose favour in the sight of God. He wants what happened to him to happen to every Christian so that we will end up like him. Ezekiel 28:12-15, “12Sonof man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. 13Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. 14Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. 15Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.” Isaiah 14:12, “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!” Every attempt of the devil to corrupt you will not stand in the name of Jesus Christ. You will not lose joy of salvation in the name of Jesus Christ.
  2. Issues of life want to drain up our spirituality by all means. Our needs: physical, mental, emotional, financial and social needs. Our aspirations as individual, our battles for survival. All these want us to compromise our salvation. They want to push us to the wall until we throw in the towel.

That is why your cup must be consecrated every moment lest you will become victim of events of life that want you to compromise your salvation. 1Corinthians 10:12, “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.”

HOW CAN YOU FILL OUR CUP?

  1. Daily fellowship with God: Psalms 63:1-8, “1A Psalmof David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; 2To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.  3Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise 4Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. 5My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: 6When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.  7Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. 8My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.”

Events of life are readily available to overwhelm and quench your cup. That is why you need daily fellowship with God. You must commit yourself to God, your Maker early in the morning. You must redeem your day with your fellowship with Him. Your fellowship with Him prepares you for the task ahead for each day. You must arise early in the morning to stand in gap, so that through His mercy, the day will be a blessing to you.

  1. Meditate on God’s words: Your fellowship with God is crowned with the study of God’s words. You refill your cup with His words. Psalms 119:130, “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.” His word illuminates your spirit, soul and body. Psalm 119:105, “Your is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” His words guides, instructs, scolds and gives divine directions. 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “16Allscripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” Ephesians 5:19, “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;” His words helps you to navigate through each day unhurt.
  2. Prayer and fasting: Prayer and fasting help you to connect with the realm of the spirit. It helps to bring you to God, and in doing so, your faith in Christ grows into spiritual strength to resist temptations. It helps you to develop self-mastery, making your spirit to master your bodies. It helps to subdue the manifestations of flesh in you.
  3. Be in the company of godly people. Proverbs 27:17, “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. Proverbs 13:20, “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” You must walk with the people of like minds, people with positive vibes. Do not be in company of those who are not mindful of where to be at the end of their sojourn on earth. Psalm 119:63, “I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts.” Depart from the company that will defile your spirit, soul and body.

PRAYER

  3. Oh Lord, help me by Your spirit and Your words to overcome all temptations that Satan will push to me in my daily engagements in the name of Jesus Christ.
  4. Help me oh Lord to develop capacity for Your words, give me understanding as I meditate on Your words, make me a doer of Your word in Jesus’ name
  5. Help me oh Lord to develop capacity for the things of the spirit in Jesus’ name.
