Jude 1:24, “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.”

God’s desire is that His children walk in victory and remain steadfast in the faith. He has provided everything necessary for us not to stumble.

WHAT YOU MUST DO NOT TO STUMBLE?

  1. Maintain Communion with God. John 15:4, “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.” A branch disconnected from the vine withers and dies. Likewise, a believer who neglects fellowship with God becomes spiritually weak. Through prayer, worship, studying God’s Word, and obedience, we remain connected to Christ. Communion with God keeps us spiritually strong, sensitive to His leading, and preserved from falling into error and sin.
  2. Walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:16-17, “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.” The flesh constantly desires things contrary to God’s will, while the Holy Spirit leads us into righteousness. Victory comes when we yield daily to the Spirit. Walking in the Spirit enables us to overcome sinful desires and keeps us from stumbling into temptation.
  3. Stay in the Word of God. Psalm 119:11, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” Psalm 119:105, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” God’s Word guides our decisions, corrects our errors, and protects us from deception. A believer who is grounded in God’s Word will walk safely and avoid many pitfalls.
  4. Trust the Lord Completely. Psalm 121:3, “He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.” Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Trusting God brings divine direction and stability in life’s journey. When God directs your path, you are kept from making decisions that lead to stumbling.

Conclusion

Psalm 37:23-24,“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.” When we maintain communion with God, walk in the Spirit, remain in His Word, and trust Him completely, we will not stumble. God Himself upholds and preserves those who depend on Him.

Prayer

  1. “Father, help me to abide in You continually.
  2. Fill me with Your Spirit that I may not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
  3. Let Your Word guide my steps and keep me from stumbling.
  4. Order my steps and uphold me by Your mighty hand, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
