“While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”— Genesis 8:22
We are in a season of harvest—a time to reap what has been sown. But before harvest comes, there are principles and processes that must be followed. And even at the brink of harvest, there are enemies that seek to destroy or delay it.
Let us walk through:
- The processes before harvest
- The season of harvest itself
- The enemies of harvest
- How to preserve and enjoy your harvest
PROCESSES BEFORE HARVEST
Harvest does not just happen. There are key steps:
- Sowing the seed: “They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.” – Psalm 126:5 You must sow. Nothing grows without a seed—whether it is prayer, service, kindness, finance, or time.
- Cultivating with diligence: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” – Galatians 6:7.After sowing, there is weeding, watering, waiting. These represent prayers, faithfulness, and patience.
- Waiting with Patience: “Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” – Galatians 6:9. Every seed has its season. You must wait and trust the God of the harvest.
THE SEASON OF HARVEST
When the season of harvest comes, joy returns, increase comes, and testimonies abound.
“Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.’” – Matthew 9:37
A season of harvest is:
- A time of reward
- A time of fulfillment of promises
- A time of manifestation of what was done in secret
ENEMIES OF HARVEST
- Laziness / Slothfulness: “The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.” – Proverbs 13:4. If you do not sow, or you neglect your seed, you have no right to expect a harvest.
- Impatience: Many dig up their seeds before they sprout because they are in a hurry.
- Devourers: “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes…” – Malachi 3:11 Spiritual enemies can attack your harvest—through sickness, losses, betrayal, or spiritual manipulation.
- Sin and disobedience: “Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withheld good things from you.” – Jeremiah 5:25. Sin can block the flow of your harvest.
PRESERVING AND ENJOYING YOUR HARVEST
- Remain grateful and humble – Deuteronomy 8:18, “But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.”
- Give God His portion – Proverbs 3:9, “Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:”
- Protect your harvest through prayer – Joel 2:25, “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.”
- Be a blessing to others – 2 Corinthians 9:10-11, “10Nowhe that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) 11Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.”
This is your season of harvest, but don’t forget the processes that brought you here. Guard your harvest. Don’t sleep during harvest time.
“He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.” – Proverbs 10:5 Proverbs 12:27, “The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.”
Prayer Points:
- Lord, help me to sow the right seeds.
- I rebuke every devourer attacking my harvest.
