In a solemn ceremony held on July 3, 2024, the Osun State Civil Defence Corps Cooperative Investment and Credit Society (NSCDC Osun CICS) distributed a total of six million naira (₦6,000,000) to the next of kin of twelve deceased members. The event took place at the society’s headquarters in Zone J, Oke Ayepe, at 11:30 AM.
Each family received a cheque worth five hundred thousand naira (₦500,000) as part of the society’s support and commitment to its members. Although the families of late Ogunfolaju Dare and Ojo Rebecca were unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances, they had already received their cheques. The next of kin of Olagunju Morufu was ineligible for the benefit as he had joined the society in May 2024, less than the required six-month membership period.
During the presentation, NSCDC Osun CICS President, DSC Akinola Kayode Waheed, expressed condolences and encouraged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds meaningfully. “This token is a gesture of love and support from the society. We hope it brings some relief and is used wisely,” he stated.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, DCC Adesina conveyed heartfelt gratitude, praising the society’s unprecedented initiative. “I have never witnessed such a significant step taken by any cooperative society,” he remarked.
The ceremony, filled with mixed emotions, concluded with a prayer led by General Secretary SC Abdulazeez Muideen, wishing the families strength and prosperity.
In a related development, NSCDC Osun CICS also disbursed four million, five hundred and seven thousand, three hundred and two naira (₦4,507,302) to six retired members on June 27, 2024. President Akinola Kayode Waheed, in his address to the retirees, appreciated their dedication and contribution to the society’s resilience during challenging times, wishing them a fulfilling retirement.
This series of disbursements underscores NSCDC Osun CICS’s commitment to supporting its members and their families through financial assistance and community solidarity.
