Romans 8:37, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
Who Are the Conquerors?
Conquerors are those who have subdued, overpowered, or gained dominion over a place, people, or challenge—whether physical, spiritual, or emotional. They emerge victorious after a battle or struggle.
In earthly terms, a conqueror overcomes a territory and enforces rule or control. But the Bible says we are “more than” conquerors, meaning our dominion surpasses physical conquests—we operate in spiritual superiority and eternal victory through Christ Jesus.
Our Dominion in Christ
We are not just ordinary victors, our victory is total, spiritual, eternal, and sealed in love. Romans 8:37 says this victory is “through Him that loved us”—Jesus Christ.
The depth of this victory is described in Ephesians 2:6, “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” This shows that our position in Christ is not on the battlefield, but above it—far above the domain of darkness. Ephesians 1:21, “Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:” Our victory is not just in surviving, we reign with Christ, we rule with spiritual authority, and we triumph eternally.
Areas Where You Are More Than a Conqueror
- You Have Conquered Sickness and Infirmity
Isaiah 53:5 “(53:5) But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. ”Psalm 16:10, “For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.” 1 Peter 2:24, “ Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”
Jesus bore our sicknesses, both spiritual and physical. Our healing was paid for on the cross, and by faith, we walk in divine health and wholeness.
- You Have Conquered Poverty and Penury
2 Corinthians 8:9, “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.” Philippians 4:19, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Psalm 34:10, “The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing.”
True riches in Christ are not just financial, but include peace, provision, purpose, and power. God’s covenant blessings ensure we are never beggars, but channels of blessing.
- You Have Conquered the World
1 John 5:4, “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” John 16:33, “.In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
The systems of the world—its lust, pride, and deception—no longer rule us. We live above the world, guided by the Spirit of Truth.
- You Have Conquered Fear and Condemnation
Romans 8:1, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”, 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 1 John 4:18, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love..
The believer lives in boldness—not arrogance, but in divine confidence and peace, knowing that their salvation is secure.
- You Have Conquered Sin and the Flesh
Romans 6:14, “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” Galatians 5:24, “And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.”
Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the believer overcomes temptation, lives righteously, and walks in the newness of life.
- You Have Conquered the Dragon (Satan) and His Angels
Revelation 12:11, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” Luke 10:19, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Colossians 2:15, “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”
Satan is a defeated foe. Jesus disarmed him on the cross, and now we walk in authority and dominion over all demonic forces.
- You Have Conquered the Second Death
The second death refers to eternal separation from God in the lake of fire (Revelation 20:14). Revelation 2:11, “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.” 1 Corinthians 15:55-57, “55O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ..” As believers, we don’t fear death because Christ has conquered death on our behalf. Our eternal destination is secured in Him. John 11:25, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”
Your Identity as “More Than a Conqueror”
Being more than a conqueror means:
- Your victory is already guaranteed in Christ.
- You don’t fight for victory, you fight from victory.
- You have spiritual dominion, eternal security, and heavenly authority.
Romans 8:38-39, “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life… nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Let your life reflect the identity and authority you have in Christ:
- Walk in boldness, not fear.
- Declare God’s promises daily.
- Live in righteousness and dominion.
- Know that nothing can defeat you if you are aligned with God’s purpose and love.
